I see a future where, as has happened so many times in human history already, with hindsight, mankind realises it must erect guardrails to stop certain events of history ever happening again and I feel, regrettably, that AI and the embodiment of AI, (in the form of AI and AGI based humanoid and other forms), will become one of those historical punctuations. I also see an underground movement, not like some theatrical Terminator style movie scenario but more of the kind of underground movement that was een in WW2 when ‘professionals’ and ‘creatives’ of all disciplines found a desperate requirement to hide and organise some kind of a stand away from the gaze of “the machine” that was already grinding thier comrades and peers into the ground. Yes. A calculator, (like so many other tools), is a fab device to have to hand but the difference here is that ai based services, systems and embodied manifestations can effortlessly, not just “bite the hand (of the human creators) that feed them” but, already, have their own hands on all the levers and pulleys of human society and civilisation. I see ai, (having been deployed to spy on, bombard, seduce and coerce humans with ads, news and similar for over 2 decades on social media and smart devices), as a bindweed strangling the whole of human society but with such a gentle caress as to, so far, being able to do so, boiled frog like, without unsettling the natives. But where will this end? Is it possible for humanity to escape the tendrils of such a, potentially, malevolent force?
