Sure, maybe entropy does not ebb or flow like our tides, but as a metaphor, I use the phrase to ponder a fact that many seldom consider.
Whether an ice cube, an advanced civilization or an entire universe, everything follows a familiar path of build-up, plateau and decay.
But why reflect on entropy this way?
Because, amidst this inevitable decay and nihilistic outlook, something extraordinary emerges.
That is – Life itself!
Defying the cosmic fate that entropy guarantees, life, against all odds, delays and bewitches the inevitable increase of entropy just long enough to exist, explore, evolve, and ultimately, create conscious beings just like ourselves.
And I feel obliged to document that fact.
