Linux

Linux is a powerful, versatile, and secure operating system offering unparalleled benefits to users.

Its open-source nature means that it can easily be tinkered with or finely tuned to meet many different needs, from beginner to advanced professional, and that fact makes Linux a unique operating system capable of being shaped and moulded to meet the needs of everyone including novice, musician, scientist, writer or artist as well as being a great alternate operating system for any everyday PC user.

Linux is freely available in many differing flavours, colours and manifestations as outlined below.

Ubuntu

Ubuntu, a South African word loosely based on a concept of allegiance or helping one another, embodies the ‘open source’ philosophy of community and is, perhaps, the most widely used and well known version of Linux globally.

I’d describe Ubuntu as being a very comprehensive Linux distro, (distribution), capable of addressing most, if not all, computer needs.

Mint

In a parallel universe somewhere, Linux Mint could easily pass for a very good version of Windows 7 which means that just about anyone who has ever used a PC will easily be at home with the Linux Mint computing environment.

MX Linux

MX Linux is my own current go to Linux distro.

It is easy to use and has an extremely simple intuitive interface usually situtated vertically on the left hand side of a screen.

Over the years, I have always strived to find, use or invite others to adopt a version of the Linux operating system that, I feel, represents the best rendition of the software and, for me, MX Linux meets that remit.
