It’s the early 1960’s. We’re on a council estate looking down a wide metaled road with a pavement running the length of it. Beside that pavement, a 7ft high privet hedge borders the whole length of the pavement while, opposite, a newly levelled building site shows dug out footings while, beyond the building plot, derelict prefabricated dwellings lie in abandonment.
However, the focu of our attention is on a little boy, aged about 6, who is climbing through the hedge, it becoming a secret passageway enabling the child to travel parallel with the road and pavement for 100’s of yards. A fantastical secret route that only the little boy knows about!
